Marshall Tucker Band Singer Doug Gray Takes Hiatus Due To Health Concerns

via Trending News / Youtube
Doug Gray, longtime frontman of the Marshall Tucker Band, has announced that he’s stepping away from touring for a bit due to health concerns. While he didn’t go into detail, he assured fans with a simple message: “Taking care of business as I always do,” he said in a statement. “Thanks and see you soon.”
The Voice Behind the Hits
Gray helped form the Marshall Tucker Band back in 1972 and has been its heartbeat ever since. Known for timeless tracks like “Can’t You See” (1973) and “Heard It in a Love Song” (1977), Gray has kept the Southern rock band going strong for more than five decades. Since 1996, he’s been the last original member still with the group.
The Tour Rolls On
Even with Gray taking a break, the band isn’t hitting pause. They’ll continue their 2025 tour as planned, with shows alongside acts like JJ Grey and Mofro, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, and Jefferson Starship.
Although he won’t be on stage for now, Gray says he’ll still be closely involved. “Everyone knows I’m not one to sit on my hands,” he joked. “I’ll be making sure all of the stars are aligned.”
Fans can expect the same Marshall Tucker energy—with Doug cheering them on from behind the scenes.
