Nobody’s Fault But Mine…..

Only Plant can cover an old school blues tune and do it justice, performing “Nobody’s Fault But Mine,” Led Zeppelin wows Knebworth with their well- known cover and signature blues rock style in ’89.

“Devil he told me to roll, devil he told me to roll, how to roll the log tonight…Nobody’s fault but mine.”

With Plant’s badass harmonica solo and Page’s sweet guitar solo, Zeppelin took this blues ballad and made it their own. Originally a Blind Willie Johnson blues song from the 20’s, these Englishmen really pushed the limits of the blues isntrumentally and vocally.

Interesting Fact: During this show at Knebworth, Plant repeatedly screamed, “Oh Jimmy!” right before Page went into his solo. This was something Plant commonly did at live shows.

It is quite a short song, but there is a lot of soul and passion packed into the 2 minute song– especially Plant’s desperate wails starting the tune out just before he destroys his harmonica.

+ Nobody’s Fault But Mine Lyrics +

Nobody’s fault but mine, Nobody’s fault but mine
Trying to save my soul tonight
It’s nobody’s fault but mine

Devil he told me to roll, Devil he told me to roll
How to roll the log tonight
Nobody’s fault but mine

Brother he showed me the gong
Brother he showed me the ding dong ding dong
How to kick that gong to light
Oh, it’s nobody’s fault but mine

Got a monkey on my back, Got a monkey on my back
Gonna change my ways tonight
Nobody’s fault but mine

I will get down rollin’ tonight
Nobody’s fault
