This Kid Is Already Going Places

Feng E is one of those kid musicians who will wow you from the get-go. He’s been on our radar even before he appeared on The Ellen Show. From Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” and Deep Purple’s “Smoke on the Water” to Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and Queen’s “Radio Ga Ga,” he can take on songs from various genres and add his own twist to it.

While he’s mostly known for playing the ukulele, he used an acoustic guitar for this particular cover. His own rendition of Pink Floyd’s 1974 classic “Time” is superbly and tastefully done, which is pretty much what we expected given his penchant for flawless and awe-inspiring performances.

His covers always had that relaxed vibe and this one is no different. As he sits in the backseat of the car, he lets the music take over and does an impromptu mini concert. Covering Pink Floyd tunes is no mean feat given that the band incorporated various sound effects during their recording and they always gravitated towards any form of experimentation. But 11-year old Feng E did justice to the song and made guitar playing look easy at that.

In less than a year, his following has grown to over 133,000 on YouTube – a testament to his oozing talent and incredible musicianship. And while we only often see him play in the car, in his bedroom, or on the couch, he’s no stranger to performing in front of crowds too.

In one of his videos, he impresses the London crowd as he jammed to “Beat It”. And of course, just last February, he appeared on The Ellen Show for the second time.

Ellen DeGeneres even gave him an electric guitar – the same brand used by guitar god Eric Clapton. During his first appearance on the show, he received a ukulele made from Lego.
