One of the most iconic songs of all-time, is the classic traditional folk song “House of the Rising Sun.” Over the years this song has been covered by hundreds of different artists all from different backgrounds and genres. However the most popular version of this song, has to be The Animals’ psychedelic rock versions of this song from 1964!
Recently, Kesha covered the classic tune in an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and turned in what we believe to be the best performance of the song in recent memory! It’s truly a match made in heaven: the song matches her voice and style perfectly, and she puts so much emotion and power behind it that you can’t help but get the chills when listening!
Kesha performs with Fallon’s house band: The Roots, who give the song a blues twist. They slow the beat down and focus more on the overall groove of the song, which really puts the emphasis on Kesha’s voice. They allow her to drive the performance, while they take the backseat.
