Do What You Do!

“Cryin'” was a chart-topping single from Aerosmith’s 11th studio album “Get A Grip.” It was released on June 20, 1993 in the US and on October 5, 1993 in the UK. It sold more than 600,000 copies thus earning it a gold status. And with a smashing success of its music video on MTV, it bagged several awards during the 1994 VMAs.

  • Number 1 on the US Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks
  • Number 11 on the US Billboard Mainstream Top 40
  • Number 12 on the US Billboard Hot 100

The music video for the song, directed by Marty Callner, features the first appearance of Alicia Silverstone in the band’s videos, as well as the band performing in the Central Congregational Church in Fall River, Massachusetts.

The lyrics talked about a roller coaster type of relationship. It was great at the beginning but eventually, it only got worse. To get more scenes into the video, the band added an extra chorus. In this particular cover version, Julia Evers did justice to the song. She has an amazing voice and her rendition is mesmerizing!

Steven Tyler cites this as a song that shows the country influence on Aerosmith. “Listen to the lyrics,” he told Rolling Stone. “It was country – we just Aerosmith’d it.”
