In the episode of ABC-TV’s Jimmy Kimmel Live premiered last October 25, Joe Walsh performed his 1979 classic “In the City.”

“In the City” was originally featured on the soundtrack of The Warriors. During the same year, Walsh recorded a version of that song with The Eagles as part of the band’s album The Long Run.

In his interview with Jimmy Kennel, he discussed a few things like co-founding VetsAid to honor his dad and how all the amazing musicians eventually joined this cause. In 2017, Walsh founded VetsAid and identified it as a non-profit organization/benefit music festival.

It primarily aims to raise and provide funds to veterans groups across the US. To date, VetsAid has disbursed $3,000,000 to its beneficiaries. This year, the organization is eyeing to provide funds exclusively to organizations based in Southern California or to those with operations on the ground in Southern California.

North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre in San Diego, CA will be the venue for the upcoming 7th annual edition of the benefit event where he will be joined by Jeff Lynne’s ELO, Stephen Stills, The War On Drugs, The Flaming Lips, and Lucius.

Meanwhile, the singer thanked the show for having him and letting him perform the song. He said:

“44 years later and this song still feels just as fresh and relevant as ever. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I love playing it. Thanks to Jimmy Kimmel Live for having me over to play and talk VetsAid coming up November 12th, 2023 in San Diego. Tickets still available at www.vetsaid.org!”

Apart from the Vetsaid show, fans are also looking forward to Walsh and The Eagles to resume their Long Goodbye farewell tour which will be held somewhere in Atlanta, GA on November 2.

The performance and interview can be seen in the videos below.
