Jimmy Page’s Iconic Violin Bow Solo From “Dazed And Confused”

Jimmy Page’s Iconic Violin Bow Solo From “Dazed And Confused” | Society Of Rock Videos

Dazed And Confused Live

There’s a reason why Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page is widely regarded as one of the best guitarists to walk the earth, and this video definitely proves it! In this live rendition of ‘Dazed And Confused’, Jimmy leaves his pick behind for a moment and picks up a violin bow of all things and begins to shred away.

This act alone is a testament to Jimmy’s versatility and innovation – absolutely nothing was off limits and there wasn’t anything he was afraid to try musically!

This solo was a showcase song at most of Led Zeppelin’s concerts. They sometimes improvised on it for up to 40 minutes.

While I love the theatricality of the violin bow onstage, the best part – and the part everyone’s waiting for – by far is at 4:15 when Page picks up his guitar pick again and launches into one of the most blistering guitar solos I’ve ever heard! Sure, a lot of it’s improvisational – most of his solos definitely were. But there’s something about the violin bow being used first that builds the anticipation and makes the rest of Page’s solo that much sweeter!
