Incredibly Trippy And Hypnotizing

Jimmy Page’s 1959 Telecaster guitar has an interesting and colorful story – as told by this hypnotizing animated video from Fender. From being gifted by Jeff Beck to being used by Page during his time with The Yardbirds and also helping create the powerful sound in Led Zeppelin’s debut album, this axe is definitely a piece of rock ‘n roll history.

“I got to the point where I wanted to consecrate this guitar and really make it my own. I tried applying mirrors to it so you could use it in an optical way. It was this whole thing of the reflective surfaces and you could actually sort of reflect the light onto other things to make it sort of almost kinetic at the same time and that was a channeling vehicle for music.”

Jimmy Page himself narrates the psychedelic journey of this iconic guitar. The four-minute clip also reveals how Page transformed Beck’s gift into a custom-made musical instrument.

“I had a vision of what I really wanted to do with the guitar. The whole idea of it was to bring a new, an extra life into it, an extra identity into it.”
