Janis Joplin was born in Port Arthur, Texas. Even at a tender age, she has developed and shown her passion for music. She was part of the church choir and her potential for performing has already become evident. While growing up, her musical idols were Lead Belly, Bessie Smith, Odetta and Ma Rainey.
