8-year-old Avery Molek continues to blow us away with what he can do from behind his drum kit! Always appreciative of great music, he decided to treat us to a little Charlie Daniels Band in the form of ‘Devil Went Down To Georgia’, but with a slight twist – he made it metal. Surprisingly, it works; because Avery’s got a great ear for rhythm, it was easy to incorporate a few choice drum fills and a little double bass drumming that pair awesomely with the guitar duel that takes the place of Charlie Daniels’ usual fiddle duel.
Fun Fact: The version you’re hearing was done by Steve Ouimette, who covered ‘Devil Went Down To Georgia’ for the Guitar Hero franchise.
This is probably my favorite thing Avery’s done so far! I love it when talented kids are able to pay homage to the classics, while adding their own unique twists and turns to it. For being only 8, he’s got a mastery of that double bass drum that takes most drummers several years to get the hang of! Great job, Avery!
