AC/DC recently threw Taylor Momsen a bat-themed birthday party after the Pretty Reckless frontwoman was famously bitten by a bat while supporting the legendary rock band. In a new interview with Metal Hammer, Momsen shared the story behind the nickname the rock icons now affectionately use for her: “Batgirl.” The incident occurred during an open-air concert on the 2024 AC/DC and Pretty Reckless European tour.

“We were playing in Spain when this bat flew out of the sky and landed on me,” Momsen recalled. “I didn’t notice it, but it bit me. I had to have all these rabies shots, but it turned into this big running joke on the tour. It was a very cute bat, though, if that’s any consolation.”

AC/DC Pranks Keep the Tour Lively

Word of the encounter quickly spread among the band, prompting a series of playful pranks that became a highlight of the tour. “Every day I’d go into my dressing room and there’d be a little bat rubber ducky,” Momsen said. “The next show, we walked on our stage, and they’d covered our amps in ‘No bat’ signs. They threw me a bat-themed birthday party with a giant homemade bat cake and some bat horns as a tiara; it was crazy. When AC/DC give you a nickname, you stick with that!”

The playful rivalry was entirely in good fun, and Momsen’s band has continued to serve as AC/DC’s support act. After wrapping up the 2024 European tour, the two acts reunited in 2025 for additional shows across the continent. They are set to tour North, South, and Central America this year, beginning in Brazil in February—hopefully without any more unexpected wildlife encounters.

Pretty Reckless Keeps Rocking

Beyond their AC/DC collaboration, The Pretty Reckless have remained busy. Last year, they released a holiday EP, Taylor Momsen’s Pretty Reckless Christmas, which features Momsen’s version of Where Are You Christmas?. She first performed the song as a seven-year-old, playing Cindy Lou Who in the 2000 film How the Grinch Stole Christmas, starring Jim Carrey.

Between legs of the upcoming Pan-American tour, The Pretty Reckless will return to Europe for multiple festival appearances, including a highly anticipated slot at Download Festival in the UK this June. With their momentum showing no signs of slowing, the band continues to bridge classic rock energy with contemporary intensity, proving that Momsen’s fearless stage presence and AC/DC’s legendary power make for a tour experience fans won’t soon forget.
