One Word: Breathtaking!
Though they are criminally underrated, Moody Blues are truly one of the greatest bands of all time. Most listeners may not even realize it, but Moody Blues have written and recorded some of music’s most timeless hits that we as fans have come to know and love for years.
Despite being criminally underrated, if you were to look online for covers and tribute performances of Moody Blues’ songs, you’ll find that there is no shortage. Now, to be fair, some of those covers are good and some are not so much, but there are very few that are truly breathtaking like this one we’ve just found here!
What you’re about to watch is a video in which an exceptionally talented musician by the name of Jamie Dupuis uses his harp-guitar to perform a gorgeous cover of Moody Blues’ Nights In White Satin. To put it simply, this is a cover that would make each member of Moody Blues proud! Don’t believe me? See for yourself!
“It’s a curious thing because when I listen to the record there’s just this big empty space and those wonderful echoes that we had in the studios at Decca. But there’s a strange power to the song. It gave us a style that suddenly seemed to work for us. I think it identified the Moodies’ sound.” – The Moody Blues’ Justin Hayward
You’ve probably already seen some covers but this one done with harp is refreshing and unique. There’s something almost hypnotic about it and we just can’t stop listening. Watching his fingers create soothing and relaxing music is mesmerizing too. And mind you, he has other amazing rock covers – like classic tunes from Pink Floyd.
There’s so much to love about it. The Moody Blues made a masterpiece but this guy took the song and made it his own.
