Graham Nash reminisces his time with Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (CSNY), and expresses his wish that they could’ve continued making music after their last album Looking Forward in 1999. The band’s final show performance with Neil Young was in October 2013 at a Bridge School benefit, while their last trio performance was during the National Christmas Tree Lighting in December 2015.

Decades after, Nash reflects on the band’s journey in his song “I Watched It All Come Down” from his 2023 album Now. He shared:

“It was about my emotional feelings toward Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.
“I reached incredible heights musically with them, and the opposite has been true with them, too – saddened that we didn’t make more music. We do, though, know that the music we did make is the most important part of our relationship.”

He adds:

“This is about the thrill of having made music with David [Crosby], Stephen [Stills], and Neil [Young]. I wish it could have continued.”

Remembering David Crosby

The song also shows Nash’s relationship with David Crosby, who passed away on January 18, 2023, at the age of 81. Nash revealed that they had reconciled before Crosby’s death, resolving their past differences. Nash said:

“I’d like to only think of the good times, now.
“I’ll remember the great music that we made, the fun times that we had.”

Nash shared a touching memory of Crosby during a hiking trip in Hawaii with their friend and tour manager Mac Holbert.

“Mac slipped, fell, and shattered his kneecap. I watched David carry Mac for almost a mile to get back to a place where he could be medically treated. I always thought that such a moment showed off what a big heart that David had.”
