Bradley Cooper added some vibrant tambourine beats and superb backup vocals to Pearl Jam’s performance on their rendition of Neil Young’s classic “Rockin’ In The Free World” The Hollywood star made a surprise appearance during the band’s set at Napa Valley’s BottleRock festival last May 25.
Cooper first got on stage for an acoustic duet with Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder, introducing the actor as “my great, great, great pal Bradley Cooper.”
Cooper first took the stage for an acoustic duet with Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder, performing “Maybe It’s Time,” a song from the Oscar-winning film A Star Is Born. The song was originally written by country star Jason Isbell for the 2018 movie. Vedder had also previously covered the song during a solo set in 2019.
There was a roar of excitement among the crowd when Cooper returned to the stage and covered the Neil Young 1989 anthem “Rockin’ In The Free World”. The energy was high during their electrifying performance.
Cooper himself is a solid Pearl Jam fan. He spent time and asked Vedder for advice on his role in A Star Is Born, where Cooper played Jackson Maine as the lead character. Vedder shared this interaction with Howard Stern in 2020:
“I told him things like, you know, ‘Make sure your guitar covers your balls at all times.’”
Along with this memorable performance, Pearl Jam continues to promote their latest album Dark Matter, which was released earlier this year. Fans can also catch this iconic rock band as they’re set to perform on a European tour, kicking off in Dublin on June 22.
For those who watched this epic performance at Napa Valley’s BottleRock festival, it was worth the double treat.
