George Harrison Gets Star-Studded Induction Into Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame!
Honoring The Quiet Beatle
He may have been overlooked during his lifetime for his tendency to be the quiet, introverted Beatle and later, ex-Beatle. However, at 2004’s Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony, George Harrison was remembered and honored for gifting the world with his immense talent, and the gentle nature we loved so much that helped pen the lyrics to ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’ and other iconic Beatles songs.
This killer performance of ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’ featured music legends who were lucky enough to call George a friend; Steve Winwood, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, and Prince.
Even luckier still was the one man on stage who got to call George ‘dad’ – his son Dhani, who accompanied the group on his father’s guitar.
George’s induction was long overdue and much deserved – his contributions to The Beatles and the music world were valued and too many to count. While our only regret is that he wasn’t physically there to enjoy it, we know that he was there in spirit, and that his legacy lives on through his equally talented children!
+ While My Guitar Gently Weeps lyrics +
I look at you all see the love there that’s sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
I look at the floor and I see it needs sweeping
Still my guitar gently weeps
I don’t know why nobody told you
How to unfold your love
I don’t know how someone controlled you
They bought and sold you
I look at the world and I notice it’s turning
While my guitar gently weeps
With every mistake we must surely be learning
Still my guitar gently weeps
Well…
I don’t know how you were diverted
You were perverted too
I don’t know how you were inverted
No one alerted you
I look at you all see the love there that’s sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
Look at you all
Still my guitar gently weeps
Oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, oh, ooh
