Former Dance Moms star JoJo Siwa, who is now a pop success, has sparked debate with her startling new “demon” style. Fans are perplexed by Siwa’s abrupt transition toward a darker look after being accustomed to her cheerful demeanor and vibrant style. She has been associated up to this point with a more innocent image, frequently seen wearing brightly colored clothes and ponytails. Her striking black leather ensemble and black face paint at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, however, brought similarities to Gene Simmons‘ legendary devil figure from the band KISS. Discussions concerning creative expression and authenticity were triggered by this sudden shift.

In defense of her new image, Siwa explained to E! News that people are often afraid of the unfamiliar, and she intended to challenge perceptions and explore new creative avenues. She teased her fans with hints of what to expect in her upcoming music video, suggesting that her iHeartRadio Awards ensemble was just a taste of the visual spectacle to come. However, alongside comparisons to Simmons, Siwa also faced accusations of imitating the appearance of a WWE wrestler.

Gene Simmons’ Reaction to JoJo Siwa’s New Look

Amidst the criticism, Gene Simmons, the legendary KISS bassist and vocalist, came to Siwa’s defense. In an interview with TMZ, Simmons dismissed the naysayers, proclaiming, “JoJo is cool. Everybody who doesn’t get it is just jealous, period.” He commended Siwa for her willingness to break free from conventions and urged her to embrace her individuality. Despite the uncanny resemblance to his own iconic persona, Simmons praised Siwa’s uniqueness and encouraged her to stay true to herself.

Plans for 2024

While JoJo Siwa deals with the fuss around her new appearance, Gene Simmons is staying busy in the music scene. With KISS calling it quits on touring, Simmons is going solo. He’s booked gigs across Brazil and Europe, making sure his fans can still catch his lively shows. Simmons’s sticking with music shows his lasting impact on rock and roll.
