Geddy Lee, known for his role in the band Rush, is set to kick off a speaking tour across North America this November.
My Effin’ Life in Conversation The Tour is scheduled to commence on November 13 in New York and wrap up on December 7 in Toronto. This tour coincides with the release of Lee’s upcoming memoir, My Effin’ Life, which hits shelves on November 14.
Tickets for the My Effin’ Life in Conversation tour will be available to the general public starting this Friday. Notably, every ticket purchase includes a complimentary copy of the book. For a complete list of tour dates, please refer to the schedule below.
Throughout this speaking tour, Lee will be joined onstage by a special guest interviewer. Together, they will delve into his family life, childhood memories, and his journey with Rush, and share personal anecdotes about his bandmates, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart. At each tour stop, Lee will read excerpts from his memoir, My Effin’ Life, and engage with fans by answering their questions.
‘My Effin’ Life’ Started During the Pandemic
During the COVID-19 lockdown, Geddy Lee found himself spending an extended period of time at his home in Toronto, marking the longest stint since he was 19 years old. Daniel Richler, Lee’s collaborator on the 2018 book Geddy Lee’s Big Beautiful Book of Bass, suggested that he use this time to share his life experiences.
Initially hesitant, Lee later admitted on social media in 2021 that he had rediscovered his passion for writing and storytelling. Lee remarked on the process, saying:
“Writing this book has meant spending so much time living in the past. er lived my life looking anywhere but forward, which is why I resisted doing this kind of thing for so long. Being in a band all those years was reassuring because it was an ongoing thing. It felt like it was forever. There was always unfinished business: the next record, the next set design, the next tour. It’s been the theme of my life. But you need a lot more determination to proceed in the world of music without the comfort of your bandmates, and I can only hope that finishing this book will release me to return to what I do and love best.”
