Quick – Someone Loan Us $4,000!

Janis Joplin’s Porsche sold for $1.79 million, her home for $500,000 and earlier this year, late Beatle John Lennon’s lock of hair sold for $35,000. Now, for a cool $4,000 you can own a piece of late rock legend David Bowie – err, his hair, that is.

That’s right; a lock of David Bowie’s hair goes on the auction block this Saturday with an asking price of $4,000, though we’re sure fans can expect the price to skyrocket as they rush to outbid each other for this piece of Bowie history.

The locks, reportedly two inches long and from the singer’s blonde phase, were taken when Wendy Farrier, Wig Mistress for Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum needed a few locks of the singer’s hair to complete his figure’s wig; she kept a few pieces for herself and now with the help of Heritage Auctions is letting them go to a loving new home.
