Guns N’ Roses surprised fans as they brought out Chrissie Hynde to join them onstage on their recent performance of “Bad Obsession.”

During GN’R’s show at Fenway Park, Boston, Hynde went up onstage to add harmonica to the performance. The stop was part of the band’s 2023 world tour and Hynde and her band the Pretenders have been joining GN’R on the road as the opening act for many of these shows.

Adding “Bad Obsession” to their setlist is a treat for the crowd as GN’R last played the song during their first stop of the tour in June in Abu Dhabi. That performance marked the first time the band performed it onstage in more than 30 years.

Meanwhile, Hynde and the Pretenders are also playing their own shows in small venues across the U.S. They just finished their first gig last week at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City, where they performed several songs from their upcoming album, Relentless, which is set to be released on Sept. 1.

Talking about the LP’s title in a previous interview, Hynde said:

“I enjoy seeing the various meanings and origins of a word.
“And I liked the definition: ‘Showing no abatement of intensity.’ It’s the life of the artist. You never retire. You become relentless.”

While Guns N’ Roses run their tour through the middle of October, playing mostly in stadiums and arenas. They’re also scheduled to appear at the inaugural Power Trip festival in California that will take place from Oct. 6-8. Other rock acts will be joining them during the weekend including Judas Priest, AC/DC, Metallica, Iron Maiden and Tool.
