Eric Clapton might pens one of the greatest love songs of all time

Boyd, first married to George Harrison in ’66 befriended Clapton due to the friendship between the two musicians. Clapton became instantly infatuated with Boyd, and continued to pursue her in spite of his friends marriage.

Despite the love triangle between Pattie, Harrison and Clapton- Eric achieved his hearts desire in dating Boyd with Harrison’s blessing. Clapton and Harrison remained good friends, and Harrison even played at their wedding in 1979.

In ’76 while waiting for his girlfriend (and future wife) Pattie to get ready for a night out, as men often do- Eric Clapton wrote “Wonderful Tonight“.

Pattie Boyd recalled: “he was sitting round playing his guitar while I was trying on dresses upstairs. I was taking so long and I was panicking about everything. I came downstairs expecting him to really berate me but he said, ‘Listen to this!'”.

In the time she had taken to get ready Clapton had penned this iconic love song.
