Eric Clapton Names His All-Time Favorite Guitar Solo — This Is Amazing!

Do You Agree?
This is probably one of the biggest compliments any musician can receive — being praised by the guitar god himself, Eric Clapton. If he likes how you play, that’s awesome. But when he refers to it as THE ‘best’, man, that’s pretty serious stuff. It was when he heard Wilson Pickett’s Hey Jude when he recognized some incredible guitar skills.
“I just filed it away,” Clapton adds. “To this day, I’ve never heard better rock guitar playing on an R&B record. It’s the best.”
The guitarist was then-22-year old session musician Duane Allman (co-founder of the Allman Brothers Band) who was working for Rick Hall at the time. “Hey Jude” was still topping the charts back then and having no new material to work on, Allman suggested they do the cover instead. Oh and lest we forget, Duane Allman was widely known for his improvisational skills. In fact, he ranked 2nd in Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Guitarists Of All Time. It’s true, talent recognizes talent.
