It’s Going To Affect Several Dates

Elton John has postponed the upcoming European leg of his farewell tour. This latest announcement is going to affect around fifty dates, but they are getting rescheduled for 2023. John has to undergo surgery after he injured his hip in a recent fall.

“At the end of my summer break I fell awkwardly on a hard surface and have been in considerable pain and discomfort in my hip ever since,” he said in a statement posted on social media. “Despite intensive physio and specialist treatment, the pain has continued to get worse and is leading to increasing difficulties moving.”

“I have been advised to have an operation as soon as possible to get me back to full fitness and make sure there are no long-term complications,” he continued. “I will be undertaking a program of intensive physiotherapy that will ensure a full recovery and a return to full mobility without pain.

He will, however, participate in the Global Citizen Live concert on September where he’ll be performing five songs because “it’s a very different physical undertaking to the demands of playing for close to three hours every night on tour and travelling overnight between countries”. He will undergo the operation after the event.

Meanwhile, his global tour resumes on January at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
