Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder fires back again at Mötley Crüe during his concert on Sunday February 6.

It all started when Vedder shared his disdain for Mötley Crüe and their influence in the 1980s heavy metal scene during a recent interview with the New York Times while promoting his solo album, “Earthling.”

Vedder said:

“You know, I used to work in San Diego loading gear at a club. I’d end up being at shows that I wouldn’t have chosen to go to — bands that monopolized late-’80s MTV. The metal bands that — I’m trying to be nice — I despised. “Girls, Girls, Girls” and Mötley Crüe: [expletive] you.”

Which Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx replied to on Twitter:

“Made me laugh today reading how much the singer in Pearl Jam hated @MotleyCrue. Now considering that they’re one of the most boring bands in history it’s kind of a compliment isn’t it?”

Then Pearl Jam responded with a tweet saying “We [love] our bored fans.” including a video of excited concertgoers at a Pearl Jam show.

Now, Vedder has taken another hit at Mötley Crüe once more. During his solo performance at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Vedder brought Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith to the stage to do a drum solo, but on his introduction he said:

“That drum kit — that silver, beautiful machine that he is the engine of — does not need to elevate or rotate to do its job. Let me just point that out.”

The comment was unquestionably making fun of Mötley Crüe’s popular stage theatrics, which has regularly included drummer Tommy Lee‘s kit being lifted, suspended and even revolving on a roller coaster.
