Disney has wasted little time reshaping one of its most recognizable attractions following the closure of “Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith.” Just hours after the ride welcomed its final guests on March 1, 2026, crews began removing visible references to the legendary rock band at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
According to reports from WDWMagic, workers quickly stripped Aerosmith’s name from the attraction’s entrance marquee and the large red guitar structure that has stood at the park since the ride opened in 1999. Construction walls soon surrounded the area, signaling the start of a fast transformation process.
Immediate Changes After Closure
The coaster is scheduled to reopen in summer 2026 under a new theme, “Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets.” Disney has not released full design details, but early work suggests a complete visual shift away from the music group that defined the attraction for more than two decades.
Guests visiting the park shortly after the closure noticed major changes. The Aerosmith logo disappeared from both the building signage and the iconic 40-foot red Stratocaster guitar positioned at the entrance. An exterior poster featuring the band was also covered as crews prepared the space for construction.
Access to the Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster courtyard was restricted early in the day. The gate later reopened around 9:45 a.m., allowing visitors to reach Sunset Showcase, where the Disney Villains stage show continues to operate during the renovation period.
Farewell Moments Before the Transition
The ride’s final weeks included a personal goodbye from members of Aerosmith themselves. In January, bassist Tom Hamilton visited Disney’s Hollywood Studios alongside his band Close Enemies to experience the attraction one last time before its closure.
Hamilton shared the moment with fans through social media, posting photos and video from the visit. Reflecting on the ride’s long history, he wrote: “What a day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, with my new band, @closeenemiesofficial, riding Aerosmith’s Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster one last time before it takes its final lap. It’s been an absolute honor to share this ride with our fans for so many years. Huge thanks to the amazing cast members for the warmth, hospitality, and respect for what this moment means. Thanks for letting us all #RideThisWay.”
Since opening in 1999, the high-speed indoor coaster became one of the park’s signature attractions, combining a launch system with music-driven storytelling centered on the band rushing guests to a concert. Its soundtrack and themed pre-show helped define the experience for several generations of visitors.
Disney’s decision to replace the theme reflects the company’s ongoing effort to refresh attractions while keeping familiar ride systems in place. The upcoming Muppets version is expected to keep the coaster’s core mechanics while introducing new characters, music, and story elements designed to appeal to a broader audience.
