In a heartwarming gesture, even the legendary Diane Keaton can’t resist the charm of Miley Cyrus’ latest song, “Used to Be Young.” The pop icon’s new single, released on Friday, prompted Keaton, 77, to take to Instagram with a touching tribute inspired by the song’s message.

The Oscar-winning actress put together a slideshow of black-and-white pictures from her youthful days.

Perfectly complements the ballad where Cyrus, aged 30, reflects on her past misjudgments and embraces her personal growth. The chorus of the song harmoniously accompanies the nostalgic images:

“I know I used to be crazy / I know I used to be fun / You say I used to be wild / I say I used to be young / You tell me time has done changed me / That’s fine, I’ve had a good run / I know I used to be crazy / That’s ’cause I used to be young.”

Captioning the post with heartfelt sentiment, Keaton declared, “HERE’S TO MILEY. ❤️” The pop star herself took notice of the tribute and responded with gratitude in the comments section, expressing that the tribute touched her deeply and aligned perfectly with the song’s intention. Cyrus even shared that Keaton was in her thoughts during the songwriting process, saying:

“I said throughout the journey of writing it over the last 18 months, ‘all I want is Diane Keaton to dance to it’ and this is even more magical. I love you. Thank you.”

Keaton reciprocated the praise, showering Cyrus with admiration and appreciation, noting that the song is “absolutely fabulous” and reaffirming her belief in Cyrus’ astonishing talent.

This is not the first time that Diane Keaton has shown her support for Cyrus.

When Cyrus’ disco-infused hit “Flowers” was released in January, Keaton shared a video of herself dancing to the infectious tune in her own backyard. The caption of the video showcased Keaton’s enthusiasm, exclaiming, “YOUR INCREDIBLE SONG GAVE ME A REASON TO DANCE IN MY OWN BACKYARD!” This joyful moment was likely the spark for Cyrus’ gratitude in response to Keaton’s recent tribute.

Cyrus also unveiled the music video for “Used to Be Young” on the same day. The emotionally charged video captures the superstar reflecting on her partying days while coming to terms with her personal transformation. In a press release, Cyrus shared her perspective on the song’s meaning: “This song is about honoring who we’ve been, loving who we are and celebrating who we will become.” She expressed gratitude for her devoted fans and dedicated the song to them, acknowledging their unwavering support.

Through Keaton’s touching tribute and Cyrus’ poignant song, the bond between the two artists shines brightly, showcasing the power of music to connect across generations.
