Def Leppard has released a new second single “Take What You Want” from their upcoming twelfth studio album Diamond Star Halos, which is set to arrive on May 27.

Following the album’s first single “Kick,” “Take What You Want” will have an accompanying lyric video that is scheduled for release on April 29. Diamond Star Halos contains 15 tracks, it is Def Leppard’s first new studio album since their 2015 self-titled record.

Aside from the band members, singer Joe Elliott, guitarists Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell, bassist Rick Savage and drummer Rick Allen, there are also several guest artists featured on the album. It includes singer Alison Krauss on “This Guitar” and Lifeless,” and Bowie pianist Mike Garson on “Goodbye for Good This Time” and “Angels (Can’t Help You Now).”

In a 2021 interview, Elliott explained what motivated the band to continue releasing new material, he said:

“We’ve always said that what we’ve got to try and achieve before we kick it all in the head or we’re gone is to be bracketed among the greats: Lennon-McCartney, Jagger-Richards, Ray Davies, Pete Townshend. We probably never will, but we’re never gonna stop trying.

“We’re not interested in trying to be some second division, ‘Oh, that’ll do’ kind of thing. It’s like if somebody fails climbing Mount Everest: If they’re that desperate, then they’ll try again next year. That’s how we feel about what we do, so we’re just gonna try our best, again, and keep going for it.”

Def Leppard will hit the road this summer for their long-awaited Stadium Tour with Mötley Crüe, Poison and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts that kicks off in Atlanta on June 16.

The trek has been postponed multiple times due to the pandemic. Members of Def Leppard have already revealed that the songs from Diamond Star Halos will be included in their Stadium Tour set lists.
