Deep Purple Fans Finally Get Big Tour News for 2026

Rock veterans Deep Purple are gearing up for an active 2026, unveiling a slate of tour dates that will see them joined by fellow classic rock mainstays Kansas, with Jefferson Starship appearing at select stops. The tour is scheduled to launch on August 4, signaling another busy chapter for a band that has shown little interest in slowing down.
Presale tickets will be made available through the group’s official website using the code DPBAND, ahead of the general onsale this Friday at 10 a.m. local time. The announcement underscores Deep Purple’s enduring draw, as they continue to balance legacy status with forward momentum.
A Philosophical Turn in the Studio
Beyond the stage, Deep Purple is reportedly finalizing a new studio album, expected to arrive in June. While details remain scarce, frontman Ian Gillan offered a glimpse into the project’s conceptual direction—one that leans toward introspection rather than nostalgia.
“It’s basically very optimistic,” he said, carefully choosing his words. “Let’s say there’s a general theme. It’s a fairly loose conceptual idea of the end of humanity, but not as grim as it sounds. In fact, it’s very optimistic. It’s about the metamorphosis of humanity into a metaphysical state, our next incarnation.”
The album will follow 2024’s =1, and if Gillan’s comments are any indication, the band is once again pushing beyond conventional rock themes, exploring existential ideas with a sense of curiosity rather than dread.
A Pause Before the Next Surge
Bassist Roger Glover reflected on the band’s recent slowdown, describing it as both necessary and creatively beneficial after years of near-constant activity.
“Well, we’ve not been idle. We’ve been working on and there’ll probably be an album [in 2026],” he said. “This has been a welcome break, because we’ve been hard at it for several years. I think it was good to actually take a break. We did one concert in Brazil, a festival in June or something. And I think [there’s] three in Eastern Europe at the end of the year. But that’s it for touring. So [2026] I will [also] be a touring year.”
That balance—between rest and reinvention—appears to be fueling the band’s longevity, allowing them to return with renewed energy rather than routine obligation.
Kansas Stays the Course, On and Off the Stage
Meanwhile, Kansas continues to maintain a steady presence on the live circuit. The band has already logged multiple performances this year, including their appearance on the Rock & Romance cruise, with additional dates scheduled through the spring.
Their summer will see them reconnect with 38 Special for a series of co-headlining shows, some of which will also feature Brother Cane. The run extends through late July, effectively bridging their schedule into the Deep Purple tour.
Drummer Phil Ehart, however, is also turning inward. His forthcoming memoir, I Am Phil, set for release in April, suggests a period of reflection amid the band’s ongoing activity. Rather than signaling a slowdown, the project highlights a musician taking stock of decades spent on the road—capturing not just milestones, but the quieter, more personal moments that often go undocumented.
In that sense, Kansas’ current chapter mirrors Deep Purple’s: a dual focus on honoring the past while continuing to build something meaningful in the present.
