The official dates of David Gilmour’s first live performances in 2024 have been revealed.

Gilmour is a well-known vocalist and guitarist with Pink Floyd. On October 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, and 15, he has six performances at London’s esteemed Royal Albert Hall.

This wonderful announcement follows the September 6 release date of Gilmour’s next solo album, Love and Strange. With the release of The Piper’s Call, the album’s lead song, fans were given a preview of what was to come.

In a heartfelt video announcing the shows, Gilmour expressed his deep affection for the Royal Albert Hall, calling it his favorite venue in England. He shared:

“It always has such a wonderful atmosphere, beautiful place. It sounds great, too.”

The announcement video concluded with a surprise, even though Gilmour has stated that he would rather investigate Pink Floyd’s ’60s and ’80s periods than go back and explore the ’70s work. Though Gilmour maintained his position, live footage of him playing the Pink Floyd classic from the Waters period, “Comfortably Numb,” suggested that the next performances would feature both old and new material.

Tensions between Gilmour and his former bandmate Roger Waters have been rising in their relationship in recent years. Polly Samson, Gilmour’s songwriting collaborator and wife, openly attacked Waters and charged him with antisemitism. Gilmour confirmed her views, calling them “demonstrably true,” which exacerbated the tension between the two performers.

In the meanwhile, Waters has started several tours that feature Pink Floyd songs, such as the well-liked “This is Not a Drill” journey that takes place in 2022 and 2023.

There is a unique chance for fans who are keen to get tickets for Gilmour’s appearances at the Royal Albert Hall. Priority ticket access will be granted to those who purchase Love and Strange through Gilmour’s official website, starting on May 10 before the open public sale.

One thing is clear as the excitement and ticket sales grow: David Gilmour’s comeback to the stage promises to be an enthralling event, fusing timeless classics with brand-new songs in the legendary setting of the Royal Albert Hall.
