Carlos Santana and George Benson – “Breezin'” Live
It’s One Amazing Solo After Another!
“Breezin'” is an instrumental written by Bobby Womack and performed by George Benson. It was released in 1976 for the album of the same title. It was such a huge success that the album eventually received triple platinum certification status from the RIAA and won several awards during the Grammys.
The album marked the beginning of Benson’s most successful period commercially. Breezin’ topped the Pop, Jazz and R&B album charts in Billboard[1] and spun off two hit singles, the title song (which has become a smooth jazz standard) and “This Masquerade,” which was a top ten pop and R&B hit.
Since it was often considered as his transition album, the choice to perform the song live with Carlos Santana was nothing short of perfect since Santana always manages to bring his distinctive style on stage. They both played flawlessly and of course, Santana unleashes his guitar. It was a wonderful fusion and the result is electrifying.
Great music from two excellent guitarists!
