They’re Currently Looking at Ideas
In 2020, Queen guitarist Brian May admitted that he didn’t think “a sequel will happen”. Their 2018 biopic Bohemian Rhapsody was a huge success. It grossed over $900 million worldwide, and also bagged several awards including the Academy Award for Best Actor for Rami Malek. And so, it was perfect natural for people to assume there will be a follow-up. Back then, May shot down the speculations by saying it wasn’t likely to happen. Still, he told Rolling Stone that “Things could change, I suppose, but I think it would be difficult.”
And now, it seemed like things absolutely changed.
Speaking on Instagram Live, May said: “We are looking at it. Yeah, we have been looking at ideas.”
“It’s going to be hard to follow that one as none of us could have predicted how massive that was going to be,” he added. “We put a lot of heart and soul into making it and no one could have predicted [its success] as it was bigger than Gone With The Wind. But yes, we are thinking maybe it could happen, but it would have to be a great script. It’s going to take a while to figure that out.”
It would be interesting to see a sequel, especially since Bohemian Rhapsody left out plenty of storylines that they can explore further.
