Following vocal cord surgery, the legendary vocalist of the band of the same name, Jon Bon Jovi, is presently recuperating.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Bon Jovi discussed his recovery journey and emphasized his steadfast dedication to restoring voice power. Bon Jovi revealed:
“Day to day, I’m working hard on it.
“Nothing else matters until I work on getting better. It’s up to God at this point. I’ve done everything I can do.”
The singer-songwriter, known for his powerful vocals and electrifying stage presence, expressed his reluctance to return to touring until he feels confident in his ability to deliver performances up to the band’s standards. “I won’t compromise who we are as a band live,” he affirmed. “Because I’d like to think we’re a pretty darn good band.”
Even with the loss, Bon Jovi is still hopeful for the future. The group is preparing for the June 7 release of their most recent album, Forever, which will be a big turning point in their career. Recently, Bon Jovi demonstrated his recovery by performing at the annual MusicCares event. He called the experience “liberating.” Bon Jovi shared:
“I sang on the new record. I’ve done MusiCares and nailed it.
“When I woke up after that night, it was the first time in a decade the only voice in my head was mine: Fear wasn’t there, doubt wasn’t there – and [his wife] Dorothea texted the kids and said, ‘He’s back!'”
Together with his tenacity, Bon Jovi acknowledges that fellow rock star and lifelong friend Bruce Springsteen gave him priceless support during his recuperation process. In an interview with Extra, Bon Jovi referred to Springsteen as a “big brother” who provided consolation and support.
“Bruce has been like a big brother throughout my vocal surgery journey,” Bon Jovi revealed. “He was one of the real comforting voices of, ‘We got your back; you’re gonna get through this,’ so it was therapeutic.”
