White As The Snow

On May 5, 1968, the great Bing Crosby performed the greatest Christmas song to ever be created, “White Christmas” that makes all of our lives a little lighter around the holidays. Performing his Christmas classic on the Ed Sullivan show, Bing is electric and intoxicating with his old fashioned vocals and charm.

“I’m dreaming of a white Christmas, just like the ones I used to know. Where the treetops glisten and children listen, to hear sleigh bells in the snow….”

Written by Irving Berlin for the 1942 movie Holiday Inn, “White Christmas” is sung by a man stuck on the West Coast on Christmas, missing the white blankets that cover New York city around the holidays as he daydreams about the soft covering of the fallen, white snow.”White Christmas” ended up hitting #1 on the Billboard chart (measuring sales) in October, and staying in the top spot for 11 weeks, taking it through the first two weeks of 1943.

Interesting Fact: This won the Academy Award for Best Song of 1942.

Think for a second about how many times you hear this song on CD’s, the radio or on television around the holidays, a lot, huh? Well, that is because it is the most famous Christmas song of all time and here to sing it himself is Bing Crosby! Enjoy and happy holidays!

+ White Christmas Lyrics +

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
“May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white
