Billy Idol is surely starting his year off strong as he’s set to receive the first Hollywood Walk of Fame star of 2023.

The ceremony was originally scheduled for January 5 to celebrate the British musician, whose real name is William Broad, but bad weather forced a postponement. The “Cradle of Love” crooner’s star, which brings the total number of Walk of Fame stars to an astounding 2,743, will be positioned at 6201 Hollywood Boulevard. The three-time Grammy nominee will receive recognition in the 1960-established Recording category.

“There will be lots of rebels yelling for their favorite rock star Billy Idol when he receives his well-deserved Walk of Fame star on January 5,” Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, said ahead of the ceremony before it was postponed for Friday.

As the guitarist for the punk rock band Chelsea in the 1970s, Idol launched his glitzy musical career. He didn’t stay there for very long before starting his own band, Generation X, with bassist Tony James, a previous bandmate.
The group issued three albums in total: Generation X in 1978, Valley of the Dolls in 1979, and Kiss Me Deadly in 1981, the last year before they split up.

Soon after, Idol made the decision to pursue a solo career. He moved to New York City and collaborated on many projects with guitarist Steve Stevens.
