There’s Nobody Quite Like Stevie Ray Vaughan!

Stevie Ray Vaughan’s death left a void in the music world that’s often discussed on a broad scale – his unfinished work, what he still had left to accomplish – but what about the void left behind in his band, Double Trouble? For decades, band members Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon have lamented the loss of a world class musician and an even greater friend, and they’ve done a great job preserving the legacy of what they built as Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble.

In 2001, they expanded on that legacy with the emotionally charged tribute ‘Baby, There’s No One Like You’ to Stevie at Austin City Limits, coming just months after the 10th anniversary of his August 1990 death; taking the place of Double Trouble regular Dr. John was 19-year-old blues musician Jonny Lang, whose youth and talent represented a new generation of musicians directly influenced by Stevie Ray Vaughan.

In 2001, Double Trouble released Been A Long Time – their first album since Stevie Ray Vaughan’s death in 1990, and a fitting tribute to their fallen friend.

‘Baby, There’s No One Like You’ sums up all of Double Trouble’s feelings following Stevie’s death; the deep longing that comes with missing a loved one, coupled with the joy of past memories and the thought of one day reuniting in some sort of afterlife, and to perform this at Austin City Limits where it all began for Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble is to let their fans take a walk down memory lane with them as they remember a man that we call a legend, but who they called a friend.
