Axl Rose Gives Response To Sexual Assault Lawsuit

Axl Rose Gives Response To Sexual Assault Lawsuit | Society Of Rock Videos

Axl Rose has responded to the sexual assault lawsuit filed against him in November.

The allegations made by former model Sheila Kennedy stem from a 1989 incident in a hotel room involving the Guns N’ Roses frontman and two others.

In a recent filing, Rose’s representatives reference two instances where Kennedy publicly described the encounter as consensual.

According to Rose’s attorneys, Kennedy mentioned in her 2016 memoir, No One’s Pet, that the encounter was consensual, stating:

“I was okay with this. I had wanted to be with him since the minute I’d first laid eyes on him, and now I was getting him.”

Additionally, in a 2021 documentary interview titled Look Away, Kennedy described the encounter as consensual, emphasizing that Rose was not trying to hurt her and that he acted gently.

Rose’s lawyers attribute Kennedy’s change in stance to the passage of New York’s Adult Survivors Act (ASA), suggesting that financial incentives may have influenced her decision to alter her narrative.

Despite Kennedy’s previous statements affirming consent, Rose’s legal team argued for the dismissal of the lawsuit, alleging that Kennedy’s motives were driven by the potential for financial gain rather than genuine grievances.

Axl Rose Requests Dismissal

Rose’s attorneys contend that Kennedy’s decision to file the lawsuit just two days before the statute of limitations expired indicates a calculated attempt to profit from false claims.

They are seeking the dismissal of the lawsuit and sanctions against Kennedy for what they perceive as frivolous conduct aimed at harassing and damaging Rose’s reputation.

The case is being heard in the New York Supreme Court.
