8-Year-Old Drum Prodigy Avery Tackles A Kansas Classic With “Carry On Wayward Son”!

8-Year-Old Drum Prodigy Avery Tackles A Kansas Classic With “Carry On Wayward Son”! | Society Of Rock Videos

How On EARTH Does He Do It?!

Just when we think that it’s impossible for Avery Molek to sound any better, he goes right ahead and blows us away yet again! This time, he’s back with a cover of one of my absolute favorite songs ever; ‘Carry On Wayward Son’ by classic rock kings Kansas and to be entirely honest, I don’t know what made me smile more – the fact that Avery covered my favorite song or the fact that he did it so well! At this point, I think it’s probably a fusion of both!

A Prodigy In The Making!

At 8 years old, this drum prodigy’s precision and passion are things to be admired! Avery’s been drumming since he was 2 years old and according to his mom, Avery plays entirely by ear and fills in with what he’s learned from his private drum lessons.

According to Avery himself, his drum teacher is a Kansas fan who suggested he try out ‘Carry On Wayward Son’ – shoutout to his teacher for making such an awesome suggestion!

I don’t know how Avery does it, but if this is any indication of where his talent will take him, sign us up for the ride! Great job, Avery!

+ Carry On Wayward Son lyrics +

Carry on my wayward son
There’ll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don’t you cry no more

Once I rose above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion
I was soaring ever higher
But I flew too high

Though my eyes could see, I still was a blind man
Though my mind could think, I still was a mad man
I hear the voices when I’m dreaming
I can hear them say

Carry on my wayward son
There’ll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don’t you cry no more

Masquerading as a man with a reason
My charade is the event of the season
And if I claim to be a wise man, well
It surely means that I don’t know

On a stormy sea of moving emotion
Tossed about, I’m like a ship on the ocean
I set a course for winds of fortune
But I hear the voices say

Carry on my wayward son
There’ll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don’t you cry no more
No!

Carry on, you will always remember
Carry on, nothing equals the splendor
Now your life’s no longer empty
surely heaven waits for you

Carry on my wayward son
There’ll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don’t you cry (don’t you cry no more)
