Aerosmith – “Hangman Jury” Live
Love Came Tumblin’ Down!
“Hangman Jury” was released by Aerosmith as the promotional single for their ninth studio album “Permanent Vacation.” Steven Tyler and Joe Perry penned this track along with an outside collaborator, Canadian songwriter Jim Vallance. Tyler re-worked on an old blues song while Perry added the acoustic guitar part.
This is based an old Blues song called “Linin’ Track” by Leadbelly. It contains some of the same verses.
The song has a pretty interesting structure. It starts off with some sound effects followed by an acoustic guitar. Then, there’s the percussion instrument and harmonica. It peaked at number 14 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks and stayed on the chart for about three months!
The song chronicles the lead-up to, and the commission and aftermath of, a murder.
This is pure awesomeness!
