Aerosmith – ‘Amazing’ (Orchestral Version)

How High Can You Fly With Broken Wings?
It’s no secret that Steven Tyler has had his fair share of struggles, and it’s awesome that he not only learned from them, but grew in the process. So when Aerosmith took their power ballad ‘Amazing’ to another level with an orchestra backing the band, it really drove home the impact that Steven’s struggles have had on his life and his fervent belief that if he could make it back on top then anyone can.
The line, “That one last shot’s a permanent vacation” refers to the Aerosmith’s comeback album Permanent Vacation, which put them back on top. “How high can you fly with broken wings?” is a reference to their logo, a set of wings.
What strikes me the most about ‘Amazing’ is the fact that it’s one that everyone can relate to and empathize with. The theme of redemption and rising from the ashes is one that everyone can attest to; whether you’ve struggled with addiction or were just dealt a pretty rough hand in life, as long as the sun rises tomorrow it’s another chance for things to turn around!
The orchestra was an amazing touch to what is already a perfect song! If you loved the original, then you’re definitely bound to love this one too!
+ Amazing lyrics +
I kept the right ones out
And let the wrong ones in
Had an angel of mercy to see me through all my sins
There were times in my life
When I was goin’ insane
Tryin’ to walk through
The pain
When I lost my grip
And I hit the floor
Yeah, I thought I could leave, but couldn’t get out the door
I was so sick and tired
Of livin’ a lie
I was wishin’ that I
Would die
It’s amazing
With the blink of an eye you finally see the light
It’s amazing
When the moment arrives that you know you’ll be alright
It’s amazing
And I’m sayin’ a prayer for the desperate hearts tonight
That one last shot’s a permanent vacation
And how high can you fly with broken wings?
Life’s a journey not a destination
And I just can’t tell just what tomorrow brings
You have to learn to crawl
Before you learn to walk
But I just couldn’t listen to all that righteous talk
I was out on the street
Just tryin’ to survive
Scratchin’ to stay alive
It’s amazing
With the blink of an eye you finally see the light
It’s amazing
When the moment arrives that you know you’ll be alright
It’s amazing
And I’m sayin’ a prayer for the desperate hearts tonight
Desperate hearts
Did you wanna see without and give it out now
Oh, oh
Yeah, yeah
Oh yeah, yeah ya-ka-kow, ya-ka-ka-ka-kow
Oh, it’s amazing
So, from all of us at Aerosmith
To all of you, wherever you are
Remember, the light at the end of the tunnel
May be you
Goodnight
