The Best From Beginning To End

Before this song experienced a resurgence in popularity thanks to several TV shows and films especially the 2014 superhero movie Guardians of the Galaxy, “Come and Get Your Love” was already well-loved. It became one of Redbone’s most successful singles after its release in 1974. It wasn’t long before it earned Gold Record status.

There are several elements here that make it an absolute earworm. Once you listen to it, it’s hard to get out of your head. And it’s so catchy you’ll find yourself snapping your fingers or tapping your feet to the beat. When asked about the recording session for the song, Pat Vegas revealed:

“The funny thing is, when we were in the studio recording the vocals, Lolly couldn’t relax enough, to get it going, he got a bottle of Scotch, had about 5 drinks, he could barely stand. I’m telling you the truth and I’m not pulling any punches. He said, “I can do it now!” That’s what you hear on the record.”

And their live performance of this classic in The Midnight Special back in 1974 is simply magical – proof that late night TV shows back then offered so much more to the viewers. Check it out and let us know what you think.
