10 RockStars’ Mega Homes (Some Of Which We Wish We Had!)

10 RockStars’ Mega Homes (Some Of Which We Wish We Had!) | Society Of Rock Videos

List this as ONE of the reasons we want to be rock stars — luxurious, over-the-top cribs! With all the earnings from sold-out concerts to bestselling albums and everything in between; they can definitely spare a few million dollars building the perfect playpen. Let’s check out some of these ridiculously amazing homes:

1. Slash

Price: $11 Million

Location: Beverly Hills

At 20,000 sq ft, this is Rock ‘n Roll haven! Slash’s Tuscan-style crib situated in Mullholland Estates boasts of big space and big personality! With a nightclub room (yes, complete with stripper pole) and recording studio, this awakened all the dreamer in us. Skull wallpapers, sunken home theater and a 36-foot skate ramp are just some of its other features. You can have all of these if you can shell out $11 Million. According to Slash, he and his boys will be “downsizing.”

2. Jon Bon Jovi (FORMER)

Price: $37 Million

Location: Mercer Street, NYC

In 2013, Jon Bon Jovi tried selling his 7, 452 sq ft swanky penthouse for $42 million but without any buyer, he took it off the market. Earlier this year, he listed it again at $37 million and although supermodel Heidi Klum showed interest in purchasing, it was businessman Gerhard Andlinger who finally bought it.

Screaming of sleek modernity, the apartment has a massive great room with 11-foot ceilings. The floor-to-ceiling windows accommodate one spectacular view — the NYC skyline (maybe the best place to air-guitar to “Livin’ on a Prayer”). From the rooms to the kitchen, everything is flooded with natural light. Gorgeous!

3. Tommy Lee

Price: $6.75 million

Location: Calabasas, California

With 8, 891 sq ft of playground, you can be sure Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee has plenty of space to party. A 3,000 sq ft underground garage can house 12 cars (yes, that includes his hybrid supercar — the Fisker Karma) and his indoor garden has retractable roof. One of his kitchens even has oak kegs to compliment the stone floors. To top it off, he can host a “party spa for 10” in his piano-shaped pool. Is this every rock star’s dream or what?

4. Rod Stewart

Price: $7.22 million

Location: Essex, England

Dividing his time between his luxurious homes, this Durrington House has been constructed and decorated in total Jane Austen style. This 20-acre estate is just 30 miles from his Wood House which was once the home of Winston Churchill. Described by an agent as “one of the finest houses in the area”, just a few miles away lives Iron Maiden’s bassist and founder Steve Harris. This palatial mansion has 10 bedrooms, guest cottages, ornamental pond and even a clock tower that dates back to the 18th century!

5. Mick Jagger

Price: £10 million

Location: Cheyne Walk, Chelsea

Overlooking the River Thames, this 17th-century terrace mansion was once owned by Sir Marc Brunel. And can you guess who his next-door neighbors are? It’s Lord and Lady Guiness! Surrounded by royalty and with such stunning view, this will definitely give him some satisfaction!

6. Steven Tyler

Price: $4.8 million

Location: Maui, Hawaii

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler set up his not-so-little love nest on a nature reserve in Maui. At 3,000 sq ft, Tyler reportedly purchased it at $1.6 million less than his listing price. Aside from the amazing ambiance and panoramic views, the property also features an infinity pool overlooking the ocean and a floor-to-ceiling aquarium. Now he’s got plenty of space to “walk this way”!

7. Ozzy Osbourne (FORMER)

Price: $12.4 million

Location: Hidden Hills, California

This 11,000 sq ft home was sold to Jessica Simpson for $11.5 million but before that, it has been featured in one issue of Architectural Digest. With Cape Cod-style exteriors and vast 2.5 acres of rolling hills, the grounds include a spa, swimming pool and a barbecue island. Their guest cottage even has its very own kitchenette! You have to love the rock star edge subtly added in each room. And with a gorgeous view of the LA skyline, what more can anyone ask for?

8. James Hetfield (FORMER)

Price: $3.4 million

Location: Novato, California

Sitting on five acres, this was home to Metallica frontman James Hetfield for almost a decade. He sold it to the current owners in 2003 and it features a stunning saltwater pool (complete with waterfalls and real boulders!) beside a gorgeous outdoor kitchen. During the time he resided here, neighbors referred to the street as “Rockstar Road” and in fact, they still do! Hetfield’s soundproof studio was also retained!

9. Marilyn Manson (FORMER)

Price: $1.025 million

Location: San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles

This goth rocker’s humble abode sits on a 4, 484 sq ft lot and features big family room, home theater, and library. Despite all the indoor allure, we know Manson won’t stay cooped up in his room. Outside, it features rolling lawns, cabana and a pool. He also has a recording studio conveniently installed (we can’t un-see that purple carpet though). It’s fairly modest for a rock star with a net worth of $25 million. But then again, Manson wasn’t really much of a show-off when it came to his crib.

10. Jerry Garcia

Price: $3.6 million

Location: Nicasio, California

This Mediterranean home by Grateful Dead co-founder Jerry Garcia is set in the Nicasio Estate. With a total of 7, 189 sq foot; there’s barely any hint of the former owner’s hippie ways except for an acoustic guitar and the Dead’s album artwork. It’s not that far from the Skywalker Ranch of George Lucas, by the way. And one cool feature of this house is the artist’s studio built on a separate 1,500 sq ft lot. Add that to the veggie garden, solar-heated swimming pool, deep well and huge propane tanks that make this property self-sufficient. It’s absolute perfection. Maybe the sun shines on the back door too! 🙂

This is WHY we all just wanna be big rock stars!
