Announcement Made Via Allman’s Official Website

We’ve got a rough start to the week as news emerges that rock legend Gregg Allman has canceled all 2017 tour dates effective immediately. No further explanation has been given, though a statement on Allman’s behalf was written and featured on the singer’s official website yesterday, informing ticket holders of their options in terms of having their money refunded to them.

“It has been determined that Gregg will not be touring in 2017,” explains the statement on his official website. “For those of you who purchased tickets for shows in June, contact the ticket outlet from where you purchased the tickets for a refund.”

It’s been a difficult year for Allman; last summer saw the 69-year-old sidelined for several weeks by a nasty bout with pneumonia, canceling all but two shows in September and October. In January 2017, he was rocked by the news of the death of his friend and bandmate Butch Trucks, who died via self-inflicted gunshot wound at the age of 69.

We’re sorry to see Gregg have to cancel another round of tour dates. When you’re that dedicated to your craft it’s devastating to have to call it off, even for a little while; however, we know there must be a good reason for Gregg’s difficult decision and we sincerely hope that everything is alright with him healthwise and that we’ll see him back onstage before long.
