Society of Rock

Rather than looking back, YES is pushing forward with another studio release. The group has announced its 24th album, Aurora, scheduled for June 12 through InsideOutMusic and Sony Music. With a lineup featuring Steve Howe, Geoff Downes, Jon Davison, Billy Sherwood, and Jay Schellen, the band continues to emphasize a shared creative process shaped by all members.

Howe described the recording sessions as a time of open collaboration, explaining that songs take shape only after each musician adds their perspective. He noted that the group is focused on moving ahead musically rather than revisiting earlier styles, aiming to keep its identity evolving while preserving its core sound.

A First Look Through Sound and Visuals

Ahead of the full release, the band has introduced listeners to Aurora with its title track. The single arrives alongside an animated video created by Matt Hutchings, known for work connected to acts like Greg Lake, Oasis, and Iron Maiden. The visual element offers an early sense of the album’s tone and atmosphere.

This initial release begins a broader promotional rollout expected to continue in the weeks leading up to June. While no full tour schedule has been confirmed, the band appears to be building momentum through a steady stream of content tied to the album.

Multiple Formats Reflect Collector Appeal

The upcoming release will be available in several editions, catering to different types of listeners. A limited deluxe version includes 180-gram light green vinyl, two CDs, and a Blu-ray, all packaged within an artbook format that also features a poster. Another deluxe option presents a similar configuration without the vinyl component.

Both versions highlight artwork by Roger Dean and Freya Dean, continuing a long tradition of distinctive visual design associated with the band. These visuals have long played a role in shaping the group’s identity alongside its music.
