A woman previously accused of stalking Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham now faces multiple felony charges following an alleged assault in Santa Monica, California. Prosecutors say the incident marks the latest development in a series of troubling encounters between the musician and the suspect spanning several years.
Michelle Dick, 54, has been charged with seven criminal counts connected to a March 25 confrontation involving Buckingham, 76. Authorities allege she threw an unidentified substance at him during the encounter. Court records reviewed by media outlets list charges including criminal threats, felony vandalism, and assault with a deadly weapon involving a motor vehicle.
Charges Filed After Long Pattern of Allegations
Legal filings also accuse Dick of stalking Buckingham and another individual identified as Stephanie N. A judge determined there was sufficient evidence to proceed, issuing an arrest warrant with bail set at $300,000. The charges come more than a year after Buckingham secured a long-term restraining order against her.
Officials say complaints about Dick’s behavior date back to 2021, when Buckingham alleged she began repeatedly contacting his family. According to sworn statements, she claimed to be his biological daughter and directed frequent calls toward his wife, Kristen. Buckingham told the court the messages included threats and persistent attempts to reach relatives despite warnings to stop.
Claims of Harassment Escalated Over Time
In court declarations, Buckingham said Dick left lengthy voicemails asserting family ties while also threatening violence. He testified that she “threatened to kill me and my family,” and described incidents in which she appeared near his home. He also alleged she once placed a false emergency call that brought police officers to his residence while he slept.
Officers reportedly handcuffed Buckingham during the response before determining the call was unfounded. He later learned investigators traced the report to Dick’s phone, calling it part of an “unabated pattern of harassment.” Authorities previously advised her to cease contact, but Buckingham said the behavior continued.
Restraining Order and Renewed Incidents
The musician eventually obtained a five-year restraining order extending through December 2029, requiring Dick to stay at least 100 yards away from him and his immediate family. The order expanded protections originally granted under a temporary restriction that expired in late 2024 following court testimony from Buckingham and his wife.
Despite the order, Buckingham alleged new incidents occurred months later. In September 2024, collages featuring images of him and Kristen appeared at their homes. He claimed the materials resembled content from Dick’s social media accounts. A security guard later reported seeing her parked outside Kristen’s residence, prompting police involvement.

Suspect’s Statements and Past Legal Issues
Police reportedly followed Dick’s vehicle onto the Pacific Coast Highway, where officers said she repeated claims that Buckingham was her father. She was released with instructions not to return. Buckingham told the court he feared the conduct could become physically dangerous without legal intervention.
Dick later spoke publicly, maintaining her belief that Buckingham is her birth father, stating, “He wasn’t a father to me but he’s my birth father.” She acknowledged visiting his home previously and said she was unaware of the restraining order. Records indicate authorities attempted unsuccessfully to serve the order in the Bay Area in December 2025.
Earlier Criminal Case and Family Response
Court documents show Dick had prior legal troubles unrelated to Buckingham. In 2016, she was arrested in Alameda County on charges including driving under the influence and battery on a peace officer. She later entered a no-contest plea to driving with a blood alcohol level above the legal limit, receiving probation after a brief jail stay.
Following the recent incident, family members and associates gathered at Buckingham’s Brentwood home. His daughter Leelee Welles Buckingham was seen arriving with her boyfriend, while security personnel monitored the property. According to earlier court testimony, she and her mother first contacted detectives in 2021 after receiving threatening messages, prompting the initial investigation.
