Wolfgang Van Halen Responds To David Lee Roth’s “Attacks”

Wolfgang Van Halen has addressed recent comments made by David Lee Roth about him.
In a video posted on his YouTube page in January, Roth joked about Jesus Christ in a spoof interview before speaking about Wolfgang’s alleged behavior during the final Van Halen tour. Roth described Wolfgang as a “schlemiel kid” and claimed Wolfgang complained about not receiving enough attention on stage and even kicked some of Roth’s guests out of the backstage area.
Wolfgang responded to these comments in an interview with The Morning X With Barnes & Leslie. He remarked:
“I guess I’m honored he even thinks about me as much as he seems to. I guess you have to take what he says with a grain of salt considering he also said that he wrote [Eddie Van Halen’s classic instrumental] ‘Eruption’ and came up with the Frankenstein [Eddie’s red-white-and-black-striped guitar]. … He said he wrote all the solos that Dad wrote.”
Wolfgang acknowledged being born into the drama surrounding Van Halen but emphasized that he doesn’t let Roth’s words bother him.
Additionally, in an earlier interview with The Oakland Press, Wolfgang expressed his indifference to negative remarks, stating:
“When there’s other people trying to lie about me and make me look bad, it’s just like you can believe whatever you want, I guess. The people who hate me are gonna continue to hate me and I’m just gonna be over here doing my thing.”
Sammy Hagar Weighs In
Sammy Hagar has also offered his perspective on the matter. He remarked:
“When you consider his words, it seems there might be a hint of jealousy, don’t you think?”
Hagar added:
“I mean, honestly, the only thing I can say without being cruel is he needs to find a new dispensary. That one’s not working for him.”
