Rock icon Dee Snider recently revealed that he and his entire family have packed up their lives in Los Angeles and relocated to North Carolina. In an interview with Parade, the 70-year-old frontman of Twisted Sister explained that they were ready for a major lifestyle change.
The rocker opens up about his family’s big move and love for their new home. Snider said:
“We moved out to LA 10 years ago, the whole family. A couple of years ago, everybody was sitting around saying, you know, it’s time to get back to a calmer life, not ‘back to’ — to a life we never had.”
Coast-to-Coast Search Ends in Oak Ridge
The Sniders didn’t rush the decision. They explored several states across the country before landing on the Tar Heel State. He shared:
“We literally looked from the West Coast to the East Coast and slowly started dialing in. And North Carolina took the number one spot.
“You’ve got to come for the state. So the entire family came out, this is true, and we started on the west end of the state. We traveled all the way to the shoreline.”
What sealed the deal? The friendly welcome.
“They were welcoming and lovely, and we said this is where we want to live. We’re all here, by the way — my four grown kids, six grandkids, we all live in North Carolina, this is our home.”
Building a New Life in Oak Ridge
The family officially settled in Oak Ridge, North Carolina, a quiet spot far from the glitz of Hollywood. According to WFMY News 2, this move lines up with their wish for a calmer, more grounded life.
Snider has also embraced his new community. Local news outlets have highlighted his involvement and gratitude for the warm welcome. His move reflects a growing trend of entertainment veterans trading in big-city chaos for a slower, more connected lifestyle — and by all accounts, the Sniders are loving every minute of it.
