Film Director Brett Morgen and Neon (Independent film production company), released the official trailer of the upcoming film dedicated to David Bowie. The documentary film, Moonage Daydream will arrive in theaters on September 16 with TV airdate expected to follow.
It will be the first officially sanctioned film ever made for the late artist. Neon said in a statement:
โThroughout his career, across generations, Bowie taught us that our differences were our strengths.
โWith Moonage Daydream, Bowie provides us with a roadmap of how to survive the 21st century, inviting audiences to celebrate his legacy and enduring influence like never before.โ
The story will be told through sublime, kaleidoscopic, never-before-seen footage, performances and music. The film is guided by Bowieโs own narration as per producers. In the trailer it started with the lines:
โYouโre aware of a deeper existence โ maybe a temporary reassurance that, indeed, there is no beginning, no end. And you find yourself struggling to comprehend a deep mystery.โ
Later he says:
โEver since I was 16 I was determined to have the greatest adventures any one person could ever have.โ
While the director, Morgen, told that due to health issues, he was particularly cautious during the pandemic. He said he was:
โall alone trying to do this by myself โฆ and yet Iโm making a film on an artist whose stock in trade is how to be creative during periods of isolation. … I didnโt see anybody for the first few months of the pandemic, but I saw Davidโs face every day when I woke up to go to work. It was almost like it was meant to be a piece of pandemic art. That was the only way it could be finished.โ
Meanwhile, the Bowie estate gave him the full privilege to do everything he wants to the movie saying:
โThis isnโt Davidโs film. Heโs not going to see it. This is David Bowie by Brett Morgen. Make it yours.โโ
