After more than a decade away from the stage, Rush have re-emerged with a performance that feels both nostalgic and forward-looking. Appearing at the 2026 Juno Awards, the Canadian progressive rock icons delivered a charged rendition of “Finding My Way,” marking their first full-band performance since 2015.

The choice of song was deliberate. As the opening track from their 1974 debut album, it symbolized a return to origins—a reset button for a band stepping into a new era. Geddy Lee acknowledged the difficulty of choosing from their extensive catalog, noting that selecting just one song was “almost impossible,” before revealing the decision came down to a simple idea: “first song, first album.”

A New Chapter Takes Shape

This performance also introduced fans to Rush’s new live lineup, most notably drummer Anika Nilles, stepping into the role once held by the late Neil Peart. Joining Lee and guitarist Alex Lifeson, Nilles brought precision and energy to a song deeply embedded in the band’s DNA.

Keyboardist Loren Gold further expanded the band’s sonic palette, subtly reinforcing the arrangement without overshadowing its raw, early-’70s spirit. Behind the band, archival visuals paid tribute to Rush’s long history, including moments honoring Peart’s enduring legacy.

Honoring the Past, Charging Into the Future

Rather than attempting to replicate the past, Rush’s performance struck a careful balance between reverence and renewal. Nilles’ playing, in particular, avoided imitation, instead capturing the feel and complexity that defined Peart’s work while introducing her own voice.

The result was a performance that felt alive—less a reunion and more a reawakening. With renewed momentum and a revitalized lineup, Rush appear poised to step confidently into their next chapter—one that honors their legacy while embracing evolution.
