Adam Lambert, the former aspirant of American Idol is undeniably one of the most successful singers to date. Together with the Queen, Lambert is currently on their Rhapsody tour and recently gave audiences a phenomenal performance that they will surely remember for the rest of their lives.

The performance took place recently in Bologna, Italy, where Lambert surprised the crowd with a rendition of the operatic track “Nessun Dorma.” The song is an aria from the final act of opera Turandot, one of the best-known tenor arias in all opera.

Lambert did the aria impromptu which surprised the crowd. Aside from hundreds of fans who tweeted about Lambert’s performance, the Queen guitarist himself, Brian May, also wrote a statement about the performance on Instagram saying:

“A spontaneous gift to Bologna last night!!! So proud of Adam!!! I can see our dear departed friend Luciano smiling!”

The Rhapsody Tour will continue with their next show in France to complete their European tour. Queen also gave a performance at Buckingham Palace as part of the Platinum Jubilee of Elizabeth II, which honored her 70-year reign, just before they started their O2 stint.

A pre-recorded special appearance by the Queen and the popular British cartoon character Paddington Bear was followed by a lavish rendition of the band’s “We Will Rock You” with the help of the Royal Marines Corps of Drums. Lambert said of the event:

“As I was onstage here for rehearsal, I turned around and realized … I was just in the gate of the palace.

“I thought, ‘Well, this is definitely the most surreal thing I think I’ve done in awhile!’”
