Rock icon Joe Walsh performed the James Gang classic “Funk #49” on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
The legendary rocker played alongside Louis Cato and the rest of the The Late Show Band for an incredible week-long musical residency.
Meanwhile, Walsh will be holding the sixth year of his self-initiated annual VetsAid charity concert. One of the most awaited performances will be coming from the newly-reunited band, James Gang. Walsh first played with the band in 1968 and left in 1972 to form Barnstorm. James Gang was known during the 1960s for their songs like “Funk #49,” “Walk Away,” and “Tend My Garden.”
VetsAid charity concert will take place on November 13 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, and it is being billed as the James Gang’s “final performance.” The concert will include Jimmy Fox and Dale Peters, who rounded out the trio with Walsh on 1970’s classic James Gang Rides Again.
The show will also feature guest acts, such as Dave Grohl, Nine Inch Nails, the Black Keys and the Breeders. The proceeds from the concert will be donated directly to veterans’ services. VetsAid plans to distribute grants exclusively to organizations based in Ohio this year.
