Greta Van Fleet made their comeback in 2020 with the single “My Way, Soon”. It previewed their latest album “The Battle At Garden’s Gate”. At the time, it was their first new material in over a year. It definitely took them awhile to follow-up their debut EP but it was well worth the wait because the controversial band found their sound and were clearly more confident.
“‘My Way, Soon’ was inspired by “what three years of touring did by opening so many doorways,” singer Josh Kiszka said. “This is my truth, how I feel about all of our travels, but I know it echoes the experiences and changes of perspectives for Jake, Sam, and Danny as well.”
“We’ve seen how people live in different parts of the world and we’ve developed intrinsic respect for different cultures and people,” bassist Sam Kiska added. “We’ve gone from driving down a highway to a show and seeing endless miles of shantytowns in Sao Paulo, to playing some of the richest places on earth.”
The song landed at the top spot on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. It’s no surprise, really, because this lead single is pretty good, but their live performance is even better.
